What a fantastic night! The choir Christmas concert this year was again a massive success - such an amazing festive atmosphere, mulled wine flowing and raffle prizes running out the door!
Held at High Cross Church in Camberley on 18th December, it was the second year running we have had a "full house", with the audience including Mayor of Surrey Heath, Cllr Louise Ashbury among the honored guests.
The packed church was treated to a wonderful, seasonal selection of songs with the choir singing "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas", "Joy To The World", "Kalinka", "O Tannenbaum", "Deck The Hall" and "O Holy Night" and guest soloist Luke Sprague adding an exceptional quality to the performance. The smaller ensemble of choir members and guests, named The Hash Tones, added "A Child in Born in Bethlehem" and "Silent Night" and choir member Dave Sillett sung "When A Child Is Born".
The choir also included non-seasonal favourites, "Cole Porter Medley", "On The Street Where You Live", "Bring Him Home", and "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes"" in their programme. "My Lord What A Mornin'" featured as the "choral hug" number (sung around the audience) that has now become a regular feature of our concerts, and other Sprirituals were added by the choir ("Soon Ah Will Be Done") and the Hash Tones ("Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel").
The audience even got to join in with the seasonal celebration by being led by Music Director, Philip Viveash-Brainch, in a rendition of the Christmas medley "Snow Business".
The concert was in aid of The Fountain Centre, an independent charity supporting cancer patients, their families and carers across the 1.3 million people served by the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre.
